Dr. Hanhngan Tran, DDS, recently joined the dental staff at Utah Navajo Health System, Inc. and works at the Monument Valley Community Health Center.

Dr. Tran came to the United States at the age of two, when her family left Vietnam as ‘boat people’, following the Vietnam War. She grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah and attended Pleasant Grove High School, graduating in 1993. She attended Westminster College and graduated in 1997. She later enrolled in Dental School at Marquette University, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated in 2003.

After Dental School, she worked for the State of Utah Developmental Center for three years, before opening her own private practice in West Jordan, Utah. After thirteen years in private practice, Dr. Tran said she was looking for a new opportunity, apart from running her own practice, and when the opportunity to practice with UNHS came along she decided to try it. She calls herself a chameleon and said she is able to fit into any environment, like the unique experience of practicing at the Monument Valley Community Health Center. But, she said she enjoys working with the staff at UNHS and she is used to working with a diverse group of patients. She likes the patients she sees and is settling into her new position with UNHS.

Dr. Tran has three children, two girls, ages 15 and 8, and a 13-year-old son. In her spare time she loves cooking and spending time with her family. She makes every effort to stay involved with her children’s activities and supports them as much as she can.
